Start by thinking long term. In order to succeed you should always think long-term. Especially when it involves the internet. Like I always tell people you need to see the macro not the micro.

Next you always want to over deliver with your content. Keep in mind content is king on the internet. Help solve problems, explain the solutions. If you have time try responding to the e-mails, that boosted my sales.

You might even try chatting through an instant messenger interface. Customers love to know they are dealing with a real person. And then you add to that by being a real person who responds. Go one better put your cell number on your web page. If cost is an issue in the early going try using a program called skype. The interaction with customers will increase sales, I guarantee it.

Here is one that seems really obvious to me, but you would be surprised.

Don’t promote products that are less than satisfying. Make sure they deliver on the promise. Ruining the relationship you spent time building is a big no-no.

Always write in the one on one friend to friend perspective. Don’t you always buy stuff from your friends if they can fill your needs? Besides, people have a hard time buying from an untrustworthy stranger.
Remember, potential customers don’t know you and they don’t trust you. Add the fact that they’re probably searching for information and not ready to buy, you have to step very carefully.

I know in the beginning these things seem hard. They really aren’t though. Just make sure you have good content and stay current. The extra effort will shine through and with some time it will become much easier.
