Question by My Nickname I don’t know !!!: Is it fair that Y!A allows professional “knowledge partners” to answer questions?
I have found that Yahoo has affiliated with representatives from firms in particular industries as “knowledge partners”, e.g Travelocity answers travel related questions. Since they are pros in their field, almost 90% of the time their answer is chosen as the best. If I were to answer the same question that has been answered by a knowledge partner, my chances for getting a best answer is bleak, especially since a lot of people would select that answer simply because it is form the expert. Is it fair that Yahoo allows specialists to provide answers at the expense of points and best answer nominations for the ordinary user?

sure its fair, answer questions you KNOW the answer to, or join P&S(polls and surveys) where a pro answer is not always the best answer, some times a rediculous answer is best.

Yep, it’s fair. Yahoo has provided this web site for 13 yr olds to use this site, reasonably. You have an equal chance for being selected as best answer, especially when a question goes to vote. All names and labels are blanked out.
You have to provide a better answer than Travelocity or other K.P.s. Talk from personal experience instead of their book answer.
I SUPPOSE KNOWLEDGE PARTNERS KNOW THEIR STUFF SINCE THEY ARE THE EXPERTS IN THEIR RESPECTIVE AREAS. I AM COOL WITH THAT AS LONG AS THEY DON’T PROMOTE THEIR COMPANY OR A SERVICE ACCORDING TO THE TERMS WE REGULAR USERS ARE SUBJECTED TO IN YAHOO.
I think it’s fair, b/c if an “expert” is answering my question for free then that’s a good thing..and since “points” are useless and mean nothing except your Online-reputation why do you care about points?
It’s fair because the knowledge partners only answer about 3% of the questions in that category. It would be unfair if they were on here all the time and were top contributors. Yahoo is just using them to make money.
The site’s purpose is supposed to be to give good answers to people with questions, not for us to gain points, Best Answers, or such. If they can get a good answer from a Knowledge Partner, then let them.
yes you can learn allot from them
I think it’s fair. Specially when you want answers that require more knowledge , you want to know you are getting a good answer.
Points shouldn’t be to worry a bout.
