read something online that sounds like a legitimate deal. i usually assume all online money-making programs are a scam. are there real jobs out there that pay decently for working online from home?

Online affiliate marketing involves building your own little business in promoting the products of someone else. To make any real money, you will need to have a web site, blogging engine, autoresponder for a newsletter and to drive traffic to your site so you can get people to sign up for your list. You then send emails to your list, and every so often, promote a product. If they buy that product, you get paid a commission.
Notice in the above paragraph I didn’t use the word “job” even once? That’s because a job tends to be working for an employer, who pays you for your efforts. Usually you are paid by the hour (or month or year if you are salaried). Your pay isn’t necessarily tied directly to their sales.
Affiliate marketing involves a distant relationship with the product you are promoting. You are on the hook for any expenses you have in generating the traffic you send to their sales page, and only get paid when someone buys the product. There isn’t any “job” in it, though the process does involve significant effort on your part.
Anyone selling “job” in their advertising copy will likely be selling you some sort of course that is supposed to teach you how to sell, and perhaps give you a (worthless) certificate at the end. If not, they are probably selling you the materials you need to build something to sell back to an invisible company. Neither of these is affiliate marketing.
Watch out for the emotional appeal where they want you to imagine what you will do with the money. If they don’t specify just what they are selling you (other than hopes and dreams), you may be looking at an ad for a bad product. Run Away. Thousands of people throw money at these dreams every week. Don’t become one of them. Read carefully and ask about the specific plan or seller online before you buy. You will often find a huge number of dissatisfied customers for many of these offers.
One other tip: If the sales page tells you that you can make a thousand dollars a day without any effort, or a hundred thousand a month in only a couple of months, you are likely looking at an offer for a bad product… Not worth even trying. There is no easy button or silver bullet. You need to invest quite a bit of effort to make money with affiliate marketing. It’s not all that hard, but is somewhat time consuming. Usually, a person spends a hundred dollars or so and about a hundred hours of work before they generate any significant income from affiliate marketing. You can do it with fewer personal hours, but you will need to buy traffic, which can jack the costs way beyond what you earn to start.

my favourite affiliate programs are in the online gambling niche. the best thing about this niche is that once you sign someone up, say to a poker site, they will make their initial deposit (you get paid) and when they keep on playing you continue to get a percentage cut- long term passive income for doing absolutely nothing!
you can get paid up to $ 200 bucks per signup! and then up to 50% share of the revenue they generate. imagine that- if you only signed up 1 a day you would make over $ 6,000 a month! and that doesnt even include your revenue share.
why would you bother selling clickbank products which only pay you once? whats worse is you also have to deal with chargebacks- so often your hard work goes to waste because the customer didnt like the product.
what i love about online gambling is that its such a big industry and its only growing. also, the market is international so you arent restricted to just your home country.
many sites have stacks of promotions and banners for you to put on your site. this makes jazzing up your blog or website soooo easy. theres no need to do any ad copy writing and there are java script banners to ge the atention of your readers.
